Hello, I'm preparing research for economy strategy PC game and I would like to ask for some recommendations about mercantile systems/economy in the history of Europe (most interested in western/central Europe 17-18 century).
I'm most interested in corporate law at those times, taxes, etc.. and how companies worked. And if there is somebody who loves this part of history I would love some personal insights.
Closest to this topic what I read was Wealth of nations by Smith.. so if somebody can give me some recommendations I would be glad. I'm not afraid of books with academic tone to them.
Thanks!
Not sure if this is what you're looking for exactly, but checkout Friedrich Engels' The Condition of the Working Classes in England. It is a bit of a dry read in parts, but it is truly fascinating.
