I ended up reading and enjoying Aphrodite's Tortoise: The Veiled Women of Ancient Greece by Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones after /u/chocolatepot recommended it to me in her answer to a question about Greek women's fashion.

It doesn't cover all aspects of fashion but since you mention women in particular it's actually a pretty good start there.
