This is a question I have often when I'm studying Caribbean history (but feel free to answer this with as broad a geographic scope as you like). For instance, there are different theories on where the Taino peoples that inhabited most of the Caribbean islands originated-- the Amazon and Andes are sometimes proposed. I'm interested in how Native American peoples would have navigated, what kinds of vessels they used, etc.
