On an ask reddit thread titled let that sink in people listed crazy facts that are I guess hard to believe them at first.
A user posted this as a crazy face, "When NASA pitched the idea of the Voyager missions to Richard Nixon with the idea of touring the outer planets, he was told that the last time it was possible, Thomas Jefferson was in the White House."
From what I'm understanding, is Sending Men To Space was a possibility back in the time when Thomas Jefferson was president? I tried looking on google, but my search came up with nothing. Hoping someone here can help! Thanks!
This isn't a question of technology, but one of plantetary alignment; specifically the planets being in positions that would allow the probe to transition between planets in one journey without having to undertake a series of fuel-expensive transitions. Given the vastness of space and the varying orbital speeds of the planets, such an occurrence is understandably rare.
