Winds on the Great Plains can have gusts of 60+ mph. With frequent wind and little natural wind breaks, what would they do to anchor their belongings? Being mostly hunter-gatherers, they would need to anchor their things but be easy enough to pack up and move. Would a windy day potentially be catastrophic?

There's an FAQ section on Natural Disasters at https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/wiki/dailylife?v=c041febc-84e3-11e7-90b1-0e5e5fbaf7bc#wiki_natural_disasters . Mostly I go there when someone asks about Native Americans and tornados. But there are other weather disasters mentioned.
The applicable discussion is "What did Native Americans (or other peoples that didn't have 'strong' structures) do in case of a hail storm?" at https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/1cjqxz/what_did_native_americans_or_other_peoples_that/ . /u/jschooltiger , /u/millcitymiss , and /u/Reedstilt discuss tipis: aerodynamics, adjustments, and Reedstilt writing about raising a tipi when a storm is coming.
