This subreddit is nothing but a joy to read every day. The moderator team, whilst heavy handed, keeps the posts clean and the content impressive in both quality and thoroughness.

Thank you to everyone who contributes and gives us plebeians a chance to access properly sourced, specific pieces of historical information and for slowly but steadily building a knowledge base that I am sure will benefit everyone.

Dear sorely-taxed mod team: I'm sorry I swear a lot when I report stupid things. I will try to swear much more and be more creative about it in the future.

This is a real treasure and I hope it's being preserved somewhere so we have a copy when Reddit bans it for trading unapproved knowledge or something.

I second this and I would like to add that because of all these wonderful answers, I discovered that I am more interested in history than I ever suspected when I clicked that subscribe button a long time ago.

I have been waiting for an offtopic thread for a long time. This is a subreddit that i try really hard not to get banned from, the content is too good. Thank you mods, contributors, and OPs.

Looking at subs like history or askscience, you can really tell how hard the mods here work to keep up the quality of this place. Thanks!

This is by far, the absolute best sub on Reddit. You are guaranteed a fabulous wormhole, any day, any time you please. No tiresome Reddit banter, which can be fun, but can also be, well, tiresome.

I wish I had the knowledge, resources, skills, and generosity to be a contributor. For now, I must content myself with being a great admirer.

The mods here not only do a fantastic job at making sure that answers are complete and well sourced, they've got a fantastic sense of humor. There have been so many times I've laughed out loud from a stickied mod comment.

I agree. This sub is one of my favorites on reddit and in my opinion is one of the best examples of what an online community can be with proper moderation.

The older I get and the better I get at researching topics myself, the less I feel I need most Ask subs, although I do get use for very narrow questions. I can just find answers myself. But I like coming to AskHistorians in particular because the quality here is unlike any other sub. I enjoy the mods keeping this place very clean.

The quality of this subreddit cannot be overstated, thank you mods and contributors, whenever I find myself here I always end up staying for much longer than anticipated because of how interesting and in depth the content is here.

Agreed. This is my favorite subreddit. I've never really been the type to want to meet celebrities or such but I have a few of the top contributors to this sub that are now my answer to "who would you most want to have coffee with."

While I get what you're saying, this sub has got to be the least useful sub I subscribe to. Maybe once out of 5 or 6 posts does a question actually have answers that aren't all removed, and even sometimes then it's not a great answer. I've been thinking of unsubscribing for while because I hate seeing good questions I'd love to see answers and discussion on, but the sub is just dead.
