I'm making a game where you are in charge of a small coastal village in the 8th, 9th century Scandinavia. I want the game to be as accurate as it can be without compromising the gameplay, Ideally it should make you think like a real Jarl.
I have done some research in my spare time and have a few ideas. (Things like the importance of trade and livestock, the somewhat equal status of women, The possibility that visitors could be gods in disguise) I can only do so much research myself with my limited time so I thought id ask the internet what they think is important that I include.
What are the must haves, the important to emphasizes, the do not dos and so on?
edit: Also what are some good sources I can look into for further reading?
Hi there! It seems you are looking for someone to do specifically tailored research for a commercial product for you. While asking for historical research is fine here, there are users with expertise in these fields who may be inclined to help if they know what your budget is for historical consultation. Depending on your country and the amount of time required, market rates are between $25-$200 per hour, USD.
