Many a fantasy book and movie will show the characters discuss in great depths their swords, often accompanied with a name that has some deep meaning to said characters. We have a few swords that we know the owners of, so I was wondering if the tradition of naming swords is least bit historical? What are some of the examples?
Are you asking whether there were certain names assigned to particular types of swords, or that sword-owners would name their swords in a similar way to how they'd name their children?
