How do I start with history?

by Freierishsmemes

For my entire life I've been interested in history, mainly the 20th century. It was rather a mini hobby at first, but after the years I started to develop more interest in it, now I want to know as much as possible but have no idea how or where to start.

The eras which I like are as following,

13-15th century Europe 18th Century Europe 20th Century across the world.

Please suggest me any documents, movies or any tips of where should I start.

There is an AskHistorians book list rooted at https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/wiki/books . There's a one-paragraph review of each one. There's quite a lot of them, but that also gives you variety to look into.

I just noticed the "movies" part. Did you see the discussion titled "History Geeks, Clear Your Weekend! Here Are The Best History Movies/Shows on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon!" at https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/88ifyu/history_geeks_clear_your_weekend_here_are_the/ ? (It was part of the April Fool's clickbait festival.) Of course various reviewers focus on different aspects, so you'll have your own opinion on what topics are important to you. Warning: many of these are series rather than movies, so how do you feel about binging?

Normally, someone linking to a previous discussion should have /u references to alert the people mentioned and give them a chance to participate with new insights, and to give them the praise that they deserve. But since that discussion happened within the last 2 days and it was big and active, I'll take the liberty of omitting them -- unless moderators tell me they're needed.
