So I joined this group a little over a year ago to find records on my grandfather who was a WWII vet. Well, I just found out that I had another WWII vet on my moms side of the family who, for some reason, was neglected by the family. I looked into it more and its says he was a WWII, but this is what confuses me. On some reports it says he was only a korean war vet, but on his gravestone it says he was a WW2 vet. I dont know his military id # since I never met him but i have some info. His name was Harold McDermott and was born on April 26, 1929. He was from Scranton, PA and died March 19, 2008. If you can help me out I would appreciate a ton.
Hello there! As your question is related to looking for identification/information regarding military personnel, our Guide on Military Identification may be of use to you. It provides a number of different resources, including how to request service records from a number of national agencies around the world, as well as graphical aids to assist in deciphering rank, unit, and other forms of badges or insignia. While the users here may still be able to lend you more assistance, hopefully this will provide a good place to start!
