Is the Marxist idea of Historical Materialism accepted in the historian community?

by [deleted]

The concept of social classes, economic system giving rise to classes, kings exploiting the peasants to fund the army they used to control the same peasants etc. The rise of mercantilism, technology and political upheavals both the cause and effect of capitalism.

Are all these basic ideas accepted by historians in any capacity?

No to stifle any further discussion but for context, /u/thucydideswasawesome has written extensively about Marxist historiography here and I too have written about various Marxist approaches to history here, here, and here.
