Not sure if it's the best or even the right place to post this, but I thought it'd give it a shot. It's also a pretty broad topic, but here we go.
Is there a generally agreed upon why to write a general history book? By a general history book, I mean a book that describes the history and structure of a kingdom for example, like a history book on Georgia?
I realise that references and sources are extremely important but is there a certain agreed upon way to lay one out such as information to include or what chapters to include? Such as a certain way they would teach in university?
As a kind of hobby, I want to write a history book on the history of Caucasian Albania (C.A.) I've noticed there's a lack of literature, especially in English on C.A. and out of my own self interest, I want to write a history book on C.A., and I just want to know how to go about it
Cheers and thanks for reading this, sorry if this isn't the place to post it, happy to take it down if need be
A lot of this depends on the specifics of the relationship with the publisher. If you’re writing a book “as kind of a hobby” then that won’t be relevant to you, but is very relevant to the answer to this question for most published history books.
As such I can share some of the details about the book I was a research assistant for, but it won’t necessarily be relevant to you.
