I've been reading into the history of Admiral Yi and mainly his service in the Naval Defence of Korea in the 1592 Korean-Japanese invasion, but there's one thing that always crops up is that all sources at the time regaled him with praise and often dramatized things except for one document Nanjung Ilgi which was written by Admiral Yi during the war but from what i could find the only English translation was printed in 1977 and is now out of print. I could not find any digital versions or any hardback copies for less than a few thousand dollars, so i was wondering if there was any source to get it or read it other than national libraries in continental Europe? , thank you
It might be worth checking out some university libraries close to you, if you have any accessible. Worldcat isn't infallible--even though it says the book is only available at a handful of places around the world, when I go to the actual library database for the university libraries near me, it's actually right there in two of them (and I've seen it in person at one, too). There's a good chance there's a copy that's not a completely unreasonable distance from you.
I’ve actually seen (but not read) the original copy of this text.
It’s on exhibit at Yi’s old residence in Asan, South Korea.
