According to a few sources Maurice Gamelin (French Military Commander in Chief 1939-1940) served as the head of the French Military Mission in Brazil from 1919-1924. What was this mission in Brazil?

I was reading a book (The Last Battle ) and there was a portion describing Maurice Gamelin's life and career leading up to his eventual imprisonment by the Germans, and a portion of that noted that he served as the head of the French Military Mission in Brazil from 1919-1924. I also found that same information on his wikipedia page, however I can't seem to find any information as to what this mission is or was. Was this instead referring to something in French territory in Guyana, or was there some situation in which the French had military personnel operating in Brazil at the time?

A mission to another country can refer to a detachment of persons assigned to liase with and learn from or communicate with them on the behalf of the power who sent them. A military mission to another country doesn't mean a military operation in that country, it means that the personnel assigned were sent to communicate with, liase with and represent the interests of their home country to the military of the country they were sent to.
