How did the ottomans or the Muslim world in general react to the discovery of the new world during the age of discovery?

More on the subject, how long did it take for the ottomans to know that a new continent was found?

As they didn't have to follow any Pope's order or the Tordesillas treaty, did they ever consider planing a mission to trade with, conquer, colonize or explore the new region?

I've posted an answer about the Ottomans here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/86euox/how_did_the_ottoman_empire_think_about_the/dw5zele?utm_source=reddit-android

The Ottomans pretty much knew it almost immediately after Columbus' exploration. While some circles in Ottoman elite considered and urged the Sultan to conquer the new world, it was simply too hard to do and the Ottomans is preoccupied in their struggle of influence in the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean
