To what extent is the existence of Jesus supported by historical documents?

by Jurplist

I know this post is inherently controversial, but I’ve heard people saying that there aren’t records of Christ’s existence until over forty years after his death.

There are many historians that argue that Jesus wasn’t even a historical figure. I am entirely on the fence.

If there are Roman records of a Jewish uprising while it was going on, please do let me know.

Not discouraging further answers, but this is a popular question here (so much so that it was asked earlier today). This section of the wiki:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/wiki/faq/religion#wiki_christianity

has some answers on the historical evidence for Jesus, by u/talondearg and u/jasoncaspian. (The short answer is that historians generally agree that Jesus did exist, but it's not our bailiwick to decide on miracles, divinity, etc.)
