Similarly to the use of 'code talkers' by the Americans in WWII, are there any other good examples of uncommon languages being used instead of a cypher based code?

Used in war? A specific period, or throughout history? What would make it 'good' - amusing, impactful, embarrassing?

I mean people use less common languages all the time to be covert, my wife and I sign to one another. Acquaintances embarrassed themselves speaking German assuming no one in the vicinity knew it ... are you looking for those sorts of uses in history?
