What are some good books on the Harappa civilization and early Indian history (perhaps up through the writing of the early Vedic texts)?

Specifically, I’m looking for books that are not necessarily aimed at scholars, but would be well received by academics.

There’s a free book written in Hindi on Indus Valley civilization ( literally the title of the book in Hindi ) that I have been meaning to finish. I have read some chapters. But it’s on hold because I am binging PG Wodehouse for the umpteenth time again. So if you are proficient in the language I d wholeheartedly recommend it. It does the job of stating facts correctly ( and it’s pretty recent edition ) but I wouldn’t read too much into some of the interpretation if I were you. It also gives the list of references at the end. They date anywhere from 1930-1980s.

Damn, thanks though! That whole Indus Valley spoke proto-Sanskrit is pretty out of fashion lately, correct?
