Who came up with the idea of giving stickers at polling places in the US?
The earliest mention of them in media is an October 29, 1982 Miami Herald article, where small businesses were offering discounts to folks wearing the stickers.
An election supply company called Intab designed the current well known version in 1987. The company owner was surprised how many people didn’t realize it was Election Day, and hoped that seeing the stickers would remind others to get to the poll.
