How large were the groups that first landed on the islands? Were there frequent immigrations? Did new inhabitants sometimes assimilate easily with the old ones on an island or were there battles, slavery and expulsions?
Did native explorers sometime head “back” to previously settled islands or was the migration pretty clearly towards the unsettled islands?
