Was it common for medieval historians to revise classical sources?

by Xenophon32

Since the oldest extant sources of classical writers were compied by monks centuries later, I suppose it's impossible to say either way with absolute certainty

I don't really understand what you're asking. Are you asking whether medieval scribes (I don't see what actual authors would have to do with this) intentionally corrupted texts? Or are you asking whether medieval scholars wrote commentaries on ancient texts, sometimes including in their commentaries or marginalia corrections or clarifications, as well as writing works picking up on or responding to ancient texts? I don't really understand what you mean by "revise."
