I'm specifically interested in the journey. Assuming that they would have been travelling on nothing much more than a longboat, how long would it have actually taken to sail to Vinland, and how would they prepare for this journey?
Did they sleep on the boat in shifts? What did they eat? Would they not freeze to death on the way there in the icy Atlantic waters?
