During the time of the Empire, did Spanish soldiers ever fight in Germany?

They did, for example during the final phase of the Thirty Years' War. The Spanish maintained what was called the Spanish Road, connecting their Italian territories to their Low Countries territories, such that they could send soldiers & supplies to maintain their plaza de armas in Flanders. As they say in Spain, poner una pica en Flandes is a truly difficult undertaking, but one they did undertake in the period from 1567 to 1648.

During that time, despite rising competition from France, Sweden, and the powers of Germany, the Spanish army was considered the most fearsome, even beyond the much-publicized Battle of Rocroi. One key victory was gained in Nördlingen(1634) where a Spanish army led by the Cardinal-Infante, quite possibly the most dandy military figures of the early modern era. He led a tercio up the Spanish road, beat the Swedish army in Nördlingen in 1634, and then took the post of Governor-General of the Army of Flanders seven years after Spinola left, to fill a desperate void in leadership there.
