In “ancient Egypt” the Pharaoh was viewed as a deity. How did the Egyptians interpret disaster or loss in battle when their country was led by a god?

Further Question.

Gods in many of the ancient societies seem to have many more Human Qualities than the idea of an omnipotent, etheral god, more of a concept than anything tangible, that is ingrained in the west today.

Was there a fundamental difference in the properties of the gods back then?

Were they viewed more as just a 'level above' regular humans? or there was tiers of gods? and the Pharaohs, for example, would be lower level gods, having to do a bit of time on earth before ascending to the next level?

I suppose having mutiple gods, of different amounts of influence, would make it reasonable that any lower god might be severly hamstrung in the amount they were able to influence the workld.
