I was reading a supposedly historical account of Athenians' lives and its democracy.
The account I read claims, in general summation, that the Athenian citizen would have to swear, "I swear I am not a foreigner. I swear I am not a slave. I swear I am not a woman." I have looked nigh high and low for this formulation of an Athenian oath confirming their status as a legitimate citizen. I have not found it whatsoever.
Could anyone here please help to confirm or deny this formulation as being historical? Primary sources would be wonderful.
I apologize if this is written haphazardly. I am a bit tired. Thanks in advance!
