This isn't really something that can be cited but the idea that history is cyclical is actually fairly disliked in the world of historiography. History is linear, nothing will happen tomorrow because it happened yesterday and that's because human actors are always different. Yes some behaviors are the same and people are similar in ways that can create patterns but history does not repeat itself
