I've been searching for music in the united states, and as you know, most of music has afro origins, for example, jazz, rock, blues, were all made originally by black comunities, and at the start, were found to be 'innaproapiate' for white listeners until many white artists began forming rock bands (for example), this is all clear. but i havent been able to find any information about what would white populations hear if it wasnt black, or atleast black inspired music.
Race relations were inscribed in labels and recording marketing tactics in the first half of the 20th century. There were black or "race" records, and white or "country" records. Country music has since its origins in the Ralph Peer recordings of folks like the Carter Family and Jimmy Rodgers had an extremely strong white presence, as /u/kayelar explains in this post.
