Looking for source texts of pro-slavery arguments from any point in history, in any geographical location.

by TheMind64

My interest is philosophical. I’m terribly curious as to the moral posturing of pro-slavery advocates. Noam Chomsky recommended this activity, but I’ll be damned if I can find any source texts; plenty of free lectures though! But I want to hear it from themselves, from someone that believes it in their bones that they have a right to another human.

And hey, if you wanna throw in some general tips on finding such sources myself, I’d be forever thankful.

Thanks!

You may be interested in Edward Alfred Pollard's The Lost Cause: A New Southern History of the Confederates, a passionate retrospective defense of the South published in 1866. It's fairly dry and gets bogged down a lot in attacks on the Union government and an account of the war almost all scholars today reject, but Pollard is very much interested in defending the institution of slavery, as well.
