I’m looking for information that I can easily access (online would be best) about furniture, especially chairs of the Victorian period and the contemporary.
I know a lot about history, but not so much about the arts, and my cousin asked me for help writing 600 words about the contrasts between this two periods (she pick a chair).
We are trying to find information, but so far what we find is lacking interest.
If you guys could provide us with direction on where to look (links or designer names we can search for from those periods), it would be a tremendous help, since searching online about this subject in Portugal doesn’t grant us a lot of results.
Thank you in advance.
I'm not certain of exactly what type of sources your cousin's professor is looking for, but a great place to start would be the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They have essays on every art and decorative arts subject, typically cited, so that you and she can investigate more traditionally-published works as well.
