What are some good books on revolutions?

by Drawemazing

Im very interested in a general theory on revolutions like when, why and how they occur, why some last decades and some fail after a year like 1848? Wandering if you guys could recommend books on general theories of revolutions?

A real classic is Crane Brinton's 1966 Anatomy of a Revolution. It's now pretty old, and plenty of people have had time to quibble with it and how it tries to group them together ( for example, it's hard to think of the American Revolutionary War as a upside-down-society-shifting event like the French Revolution). But it's well worth a read, still.
