Was Latin language considered romantic and beautiful by ancient people?

by simmmon98

Italian, Spanish and French are today considered beautiful and romantic languages. All of these languages have its roots in ancient Latin. My question is, how did romans view their own language, compared to other ancient languages? And vice versa, what did other ancient people thought of Latin? Was this similar to how we view Italian, Spanish, French today?

Could you clarify your question?

Are you interested in a cultural connotation, or is there confusion regarding the term "Romance Language"?

FYI they are referred to as Romance due to being Latin based languages as the Romans spoke Latin, not because of their sensuality.
