Are the atomic bombs dropped over Japan considered to be the event that ended WW2? If so, why did it end the war in the Pacific?

  1. Yes

  2. Because, all prior bombing runs in history required many heavy class bombers and several hours of bombing. The dropping of the atomic bombs involved 1 heavy bomber, with one bomb, that took out an entire city. Not only did this happen once as a big finale, but twice. It showed that bombing runs of this magnitude were sustainable, and with Japan's ability to fight back against the US dwindling since midway, they had little choice but to give up.
