Was there seriously no votes cast for Lincoln in the South during the election of 1860 or was there something more going on?

It has always seemed strange to me that there was not even one sole Lincoln supporter in the South willing to vote for him. Is there any evidence that suggests foul play?

When they say Lincoln received no votes, they are talking about electoral college votes. In U.S. Presidential elections, votes are tallied first by district then by state, with the candidate who won the most districts in the state receives a set number of votes in the electoral college based on that states population. So while there were Lincoln supporters in the south, they were a sufficient minority that he didn't carry a single slave state.
