In early seasons of the 'Vikings' TV show, the fertility of the farmland in England is a major plot point. Was farmlands in England more fertile compared the Scandinavia? Was it a major influence on the Norse?

I've written on the origin of viking raids before here

I cannot speak specifically to the relative fertility of the soil in England as opposed to Scandinavia in the early middle ages, but I don't think it is a particularly relevant point. There were other, far more important, factors that propelled Norse activity across Europe.
