Why is nobody asking major questions on this subreddit, choosing tiny snippets?

Why are people so interested in these minor occurrences that in the end, don't majorly effect history?

The issue here is that what is a "major question" to one person is tedious and unimportant to someone else. To you, the big questions have to do with the movements of troops and the decisions of generals - to me, the big questions have to do with the social relationships between different groups of people. Neither of us is objectively right, although you will find a great many more historians who share my opinion than yours.

But to look at this from another angle, the "major" questions you offer as examples are much easier to answer just by checking Wikipedia or looking at a basic textbook on the subject. "Tiny snippet" questions are more likely to be answered deep in academic literature or to not be specifically answered anywhere, requiring historian answerers to synthesize information from a number of books, which is all much harder for the layman to access.

Well, in part the subreddit rules favor more specific questions, which probably keeps the content of the subreddit manageable - "What is the history of the Second Punic War?" would take several books to approach a really in-depth answer - but I'm curious: what is a "major question" to you?
