The White Goddess, while quite moving at times and very well written (written, not researched), is not and never has been taken remotely seriously as a piece of scholarship. It reflects more Graves' own views of women and patriarchy and his struggle with post-WWI PTSD than actual scholarship. Its prose is charscteriatically very pretty though
