Hello there, you might be interested in previous answers on r/AskHistorians such as this one that focuses on ancient world warhorses. Or there is this one but I like to think I did a better job with the later answer than the first. Additionally, as horses and warfare have very long histories, feel free to ask again if you are more interested in a different era (as both of my answers are very much ancient world/early medieval focused).
