Ethiopia was only briefly “colonized” by Italy (1936-1941) and their occupation of the country was only recognized by a few other international pariahs (Nazi Germany and Japan). Between the time period of the occupation, the Allies eventually including Ethiopia as an Allied nation, and the lack of long term effects upon Ethiopia, it makes more sense to lump them in with other occupied nations of WW2 such as Poland or Czechia than with true colonies such as Somalia or Sudan.
