I recently finished "The Assassination Of Julius Caesar: A People's History Of Ancient Rome" by Michael Parenti. In it he paints Caesar as a friend to the common man (or at least not an enemy) who tried to break the power of the ruling class and was painted a tyrant after his death. Is this true? True-ish?
