Does anyone have any type of proof that a helmet like that could’ve existed I play a game called “For Honor” and I come across these helmets fairly often but they don’t seem “accurate” obviously the mask is a little exaggerated but I wanna know about the helmet. rounded centurion helmet
The helmet shown is not a centurio helmet (which had no grid to protect the face) but a gladiator helmet. A Mirmillo to be more accurate. Gladiators were categorized based on their weapons and would wear specific outfit (helmet, gauntlets or armor) to be easily spotted by the spectators. As every helmet was manually factured, it is not impossible to have a helmet with a rounded top which would have looked a little like a WWI helmet.
And sorry that the image is kinda blurry
Centurions during the height of the Roman Empire would not have worn such helmets. Later in the Imperial period when the Roman military faced a decline and equipment shortages, auxiliary troops were more common and something like that might have seen use on the battlefield. That design reminds me of a Thraex gladiator's helmet (which was done in the Thracian style often with the addition of a face mask).
If you want to see a helmet that looks somewhat similar to the WW1 helmets of the BEF, I'd suggest you look at the Boeotian helmet styles.
