I have a nasty feeling that discussion of the first Internet memes may now be within the purview of this sub. I also suspect the scholarship on the subject may be a bit thin. Can anyone comment?
I would expect that studying memes and early internet culture is more a question for /r/AskSocialScience. Not to discourage anyone from answering here, of course.
