It seems to me that philosophical traditions have proven to be among the strongest threads that hold a "civilization" together (here meaning some identifiable & consciously adhered to social, political, & cultural pattern within kingdoms, empires, & countries through the ages, i.e. "western civilization" or "bronze age civilization").
I've been able to discover and learn about such traditions like Western philosophy which originated in ancient Greece, Eastern philosophy originating in ancient China, Vedic philosophy originating in ancient India, Abrahamic tradition out of the Middle East, & so on...
But I haven't been able to find such an enduring pattern anywhere in Sub-Saharan Africa. Does such a thing exist?
Update: I've just learned a little about a seemingly very mature branch of philosophy developed by the Yoruba people of West Africa.
