A member of the flight crew that bombed Hiroshima stated: "I never heard the words 'atomic bomb'... We were only told what we needed to know, and to keep your mouth shut." What about the flight crews who bombed Nagaski days later? Did they know what they carried, given Hiroshima's bombing?

On Hiroshima, see this recent question. The second crew definitely new they were carrying an atomic bomb; they had been training as part of the same unit as the Hiroshima crew, and the payload of the Enola Gay was no secret after it was used.

Follow-up question, how did the Nagasaki strike survive when surely Japan knew what they were in for?
