Are there any fields outside of Phrenology and Orientalism which were discarded as "academic hogwash", and rejected as having meaningfully contributed to intellectual discovery?
What do you mean by "Orientalism"? I'm only familiar with its meaning in art and literary criticism, and that seems to be an entirely different beast from phrenology, which purported to be scientific in nature.
