Like the title says, I was out on a hike and found the aluminum handle from a knife used in US Army mess kits. My research online tells me that it was produced by the company L.F.&C. and videos online show it being found in 1960's era kits, but the stamp on the back under LF&C says 1917. Now the Landers, Frary and Clark company was not founded in 1917 so thats not it.
I want know more about the company that made it and if the knife is truly from 1917, or if that means something else. Thanks!!
(also this is my first time posting here so if this breaks any rules I'm sorry.)
A Model 1917. Most military surplus stores have them in bins for small change. Staple of campers and Boy Scouts everywhere.
Sorry, just a Model number. It's the year it was accepted for use by the US Army. Check it out on line for pictures styles and values and other models. Worth about $12.00.
