Hi,
I am currently renovating an estate in Belgium and in a room (the ancient library of the monks who lived there), are a couple of murals made by Russian soldiers (who were in the German Army in 1944). I do not know what it means and am very curious.
Here is the link to the images: https://imgur.com/a/vQptXNv
Edit: here are some more images from another part of the estate. Paintings made it seems by german soldiers. https://imgur.com/a/ZAb7jFA
I can help with the Russian, at least. It's very worn, but as far as I can tell on of them reads "The forces march day and night, it's getting too hard to walk". It's an excerpt from Pushkin's "The tale of the golden rooster". The inscription under the titular rooster is too faded to read, but I assume it's also from the fairy tale.
If that's of any help, the texts are from The Tale of the Golden Cockerel (Сказка о золотом петушке) by Alexander Pushkin. The paintings look like scenes from the same tale. (source: am russian)
Unfortunately, couldn't find any information on what all this does in Belgium, pretty curious myself.
Maybe I could post this somewhere else? Any idea where?
