Prior to the Columbia exchange, what was the cuisine of Ireland like?

My understanding is that the potato is a new world crop and didn’t appear in the old world until Columbus brought it back to Europe from where it spread. Prior to this, what was the Irish diet like? I ask specifically about the Irish as it is such a mainstay of their diet.
