How do we justify slaughtering native Americans when America was discovered?

Genuinely curious how so many call us (America) a christian Nation but we were so barbaric when we came here. Would love a historian viewpoint on this.

Hi there -- are you asking about how it was justified at the time, or how historians today feel about it?

In the present day, it's fairly well recognized that United States as an entity, as well as the individual states, committed multiple genocides against Native American tribes: for more on that, see these threads:

But if your question is how genocidal actions were justified at the time, there are other answers to that.

I am asking both I guess. How could they justify such horrible acts back then, and still today paint our nation as this peaceful nation founded on Christian morals. Not trying to pull religion into it, but my eyes just roll out of my head on to the table, then floor when I hear people speak of the founding fathers as Christians. Really ? The same people that slaughtered men women, children, cutting babies out of pregnant bellies?
