Why Were North American Natives more technologically behind than South American Natives?

by Substantial_Parfait

Hello, something I've been wondering when trying to look into North American Indigenous people were less developed as civilizations than their South and Central American counterparts? Why is it that the Incas and the various Pre-Columbus Aztecs and Mayans had actual civilizations that actually did things; while the Natives in North America weren't interested in creating grand cities; (like Tenochtitian and Cusco).

Apparently something I saw that really got me thinking about this was learning about Cahokia, which doesn't seem as impressive as either of the 2 cities I mentioned, but really got me thinking.

You might want to consider rephrasing and resubmitting since it sounds like you are really asking about urbanization and population density.

Additionally, you may want to check out the FAQ section on Pre-1500 Americas for some answers to variations on this question.
