I have just gotten an approval to conduct independent research on the Literary Tropes and Perceptions of Medieval German writers and chroniclers during the reigns of Emperor's Otto I and Frederick I "Barbarossa".
I have no idea where to look for the medieval sources, secondary sources, and Chronicles for these two Emperors during their reigns.
Does anyone know of a database, or links to these sources in the authentic and original German?
Thank you guys!
You're not going to find a lot of stuff written in German, however a ton of Latin material written by Germans - the Monumenta Germaniae Historica or MGH are going to be your best friend in any case. As an example, you're probably going to immediately encounter Widukind v. Corvey for Otto I.(MGH SS rer. Ger. 60).
